Ethical Standards

Training courses

We have a strong ethical stance in running our training courses, in keeping with the code of practice for our professional memberships. We expect every participant and tutor and member of The Grove to embrace our Diversity and Respect Statement at all times. We believe in giving space for each student’s voice to be heard. Effort is made to be clear about our expectations, by displaying our training course Terms and Conditions on this site and on every invoice for course fees. If something appears to go wrong, we have a published Complaint Policy so that everyone is treated fairly and respectfully. This involves a commitment to remedial steps wherever possible.

Therapy

We are dedicated to providing a discreet, private counselling service.  Each member of our team provides a safe setting in which to explore personal, relationship or business issues in a confidential environment, with a fully qualified professional therapist.

Our therapists are committed to working ethically and confidentially with clients according to a professional code of ethics. This means that you can say what you need to say, knowing that your discussion will be respected and professionally handled, particularly if the material is of a very personal nature. We respect individuals and couples, whatever their background, regardless of gender, age, sexuality, religion or nationality.

We take professional standards very seriously, for the wellbeing and security of our clients.

Each of our therapists is a member of at least one professional body.  The level of membership may vary according to that therapist’s training status and level of experience but all our therapists practise according to the ethical code of the appropriate regulating body.

Therapists at The Grove belong to at least one of the following professional associations:

  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
  • United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
  • College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT)
  • British Psychological Society (BPS)
  • Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals (FDAP)
  • National Council for Psychotherapy (NCP)
  • Association for Coaching UK
  • All these regulating bodies have rigorous training criteria. Every therapist at The Grove adheres to the comprehensive and strict code of ethics of their professional organisation and of the appropriate regulating body. All our therapists undertake ongoing clinical supervision, as appropriate to their mode of practice.

Many of our practitioners are individual members of professional bodies which reflect their training and areas of specialism, such as the Association for Coaching UK, the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals, the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapy.
