Although we no longer operate from clinic premises, The Grove was first established in 2002 in the heart of London’s West End. Our company has grown organically from its original conception as a private psychotherapy service into its current incarnation, as a cutting-edge leader in the field of mental health training. Over recent years, our executive clientele generated demand for The Grove to implement coaching programmes and management training in an organisational setting, a challenge we have risen to with the same energy that has inspired all of our projects. Our leading edge courses for mental health professionals are available as self study programmes and through live training events.
Central to our approach is a belief in the power of psychology to empower and drive resilience both for personal development and professional impact. Ambitious in our pursuit of extending our vision into the digital domain, whilst maintaining the quality of our product, we continue to support individuals, practitioners, and organisations by applying therapeutic psychology in all modalities as a force for beneficial change – where education and awareness can heal divisions in an artificially fragmented world.
If you like attending courses in person for experiential learning, take one of our live event courses where the tutors are present real-time with lots of discussion and skills practice. Or take one of our digital courses if you prefer self-study to learn at your own pace, with high-quality videos and downloadable course materials. Work with our trainers in small supervision groups to embed the learning.
I like the professional and teaching philosophy of the course. I can clearly see that these philosophies are mirrored in the tutors' personal values and philosophies. I also like the way that the courses are set out with access to comprehensive written materials.
My learning style is just very much one where I need input before I can offer output. The great thing I am gaining from both courses with The Grove is the confidence to try things out without fearing judgement, however, and this to me is the gift you have both given me which I will always be grateful for.
It was very well organised and delivered and I was pleased that a zoom course could be so interactive and enjoyable: practising some of the skills being taught such as presenting, giving feedback, summarising and coaching around an issue.
The Grove is run by a team of four directors: Robert Rees, Sarah Paton Briggs, Elliot Davis, and Dr James Kustow. Before training as psychotherapists, Sarah and Robert each held high-level executive positions in international business. So they have a deep understanding of the managerial dynamics and organisational pressures that can arise in commercial settings, allied with a profound grasp of how psychological therapy can bring a more fulfilling perspective on life and relationships. Elliot Davis pursued a successful career in the arts before shifting emphasis to psychotherapy. He brings a trauma-informed view to working with individuals or couples.
Sarah brings wide experience from her clinical work into producing and teaching for The Grove's suite of CPD courses. She works with individuals and couples in an engaging way.
Robert is an accredited psychotherapist, qualified executive coach, group facilitator, writer on mental health issues and tutor on The Grove’s courses. Robert works with individuals, couples, and organisations.
Elliot manages The Grove's therapy service, offering guidance on choosing a therapist and starting the therapy process. Elliot also manages The Grove’s programme of CPD courses. He brings creativity and a trauma-informed view to working with individuals.
Dr James Kustow is a London-based Consultant Psychiatrist with extensive experience in general adult psychiatry, specialising in trauma and ADHD. He brings a wealth of mental health knowledge drawn from his psychiatry experience.
