I found it very professional and it flowed really well. I felt out of my comfort zone at times
which did me the world of good. It brought a lot up for me about working in business and some of my resentments and the resistance I have at times to management.

Training with The Grove
The Grove has changed my practice forever and I am very appreciative. Keep up the amazing work.
I really am impressed and I know that I'll be doing more courses with you. I have my eye on the couples therapy course already!
I always love attending CPD at the Grove.
Thank you for a stimulating and interesting course, and I look forward to future training/workshops with yourself, and The Grove Practice!
Supervision course
I am so glad I was able to take this course and send my thanks to Glenn and all of you at the Grove, plus my fellow students who together, made this such a rich learning experience for me.
The course was wonderful, I gained so much from it.
It’s been a very good learning experience - I will be recommending it.
Thanks again for the beautiful and well-organised course, it has been demanding but absolutely worth it!
I have learned a great deal through the training, and feel a great deal more confident in my work as a supervisor in the different contexts in which I work.
Can I say a huge thank you again to you both for a brilliant course, I learned so much and am using that new knowledge on a daily basis in the course of my work as a clinical supervisor of healthcare professionals.
I enjoyed the course and feel that it offers a really comprehensive training that embraced many aspects of therapy and prepared me well for my future both counselling and supervising so please pass on my thanks to Glenn and all the other tutors.
Thank you for the support and learning on the course. Writing the essay... has been really useful in consolidating some of the material we went through.
I have enjoyed the course and gained a lot from all the topics covered.
I also would like to thank both You and The Grove for making this course so inclusive across the board, it does exactly what it says on the tin.
Rather than just thinking about the details I also reflect upon where I was when I started and where I am now. The difference is significant and I now feel fully equipped to fly solo into the next phase of my growth and development. Thank you, and your colleagues, so much for that.
Sarah`s way of teaching made concepts truly come alive. Her pace was slow enough to embody the learning, but never boring or uninteresting, also the sense safety she managed to create at the beginning was incredibly supportive for my learning. Charles’s provoking style helped me to solve some personal issues and to pay a different kind of attention to transferential phenomena. That immediately reflected in my practice.
I will use it in life, in therapy and in my future supervision practice.
Thank you so much for providing such an excellent course at the Grove. Also, for steering us well through the transition to on-line whilst navigating these surreal times! I would 100% recommend the course to colleagues.
I was just telling my husband how amazing the course has been and how much I have actually learnt about myself, on being human - with all our crazy irrational and rational processes, and just though living. I had not even realised all that I had learnt though the amazing course which you have put together. I sincerely thank you for it.
I want to use this opportunity to say a massive thank you for this amazing journey. It was a great course and I found your teaching fascinating.
I really enjoyed the course and your teaching.
Appreciate you accepting me onto the course a short notice, and for the depth of learning I have received from you and the course tutors.
I would also like to thank The Grove for devising and providing such an accessible (on many levels) course.
I’ve really enjoyed the course and I am looking forward to the next stage of development and writing my essay.
I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the course. The tutors were excellent, Sarah included. I gained so much, including some great friends. I would highly recommend The Grove to anyone who was thinking of training to become a supervisor.
My learning style is just very much one where I need input before I can offer output. The great thing I am gaining from both courses with The Grove is the confidence to try things out without fearing judgement, however, and this to me is the gift you have both given me which I will always be grateful for.
Could you please thank all your colleagues for the course which I have found very helpful and affirming.
I have grown as a person thanks to learning a great deal on this course.
I feel that I have learned a lot from the course and I am now looking forward to building up my experience as a supervisor.
Thanks for a great course.
Once again thank you for and enjoyable and inspiring course.
Thanks once again to Sarah, Elliot and the rest of the team for providing a very rich and rewarding training experience. I enjoyed it immensely and won’t hesitate in recommending yourselves and the course to colleagues.
I would like to thank Sarah and Elliott for facilitating a very informative course and having a variety of presenters kept the subject of supervision alive.
Just wanted to say thank you to Elliot and Sarah for leading an outstanding course.
Just to say a big thank you for delivering a wonderful training this year.
Really enjoying the course!
Thank you, once again, for taking such good care of us. I will miss seeing you both very much!!
Thank you for delivering such a wonderful course and putting so much thought into it. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and feel ready for whatever the Universe has planned for me next!
It’s been a course that I have valued beyond measure.
Thank you for a fabulous course.
Trauma Course
Thank you, once again, for taking such good care of us. I will miss seeing you both very much!!
It was lovely being a part of the cohort, the group felt very safe and supportive.
I studied at The Grove last year and had a positive experience. Furthermore, I was not aware that such a course as the Diploma in Traumatology was available elsewhere.
I had heard from my clinical lead that she highly recommended The Grove for its high standard of training.
Both the course tutors, Sarah and Elliot were very helpful in facilitating an 'in-depth' understanding of the course material. Their breadth of knowledge, unique training styles and professional insights were highly impactful and powerful contributors to the course material.
First of all, big thank you for this course! It was a wonderful combination of fundamental knowledge, practical skills and quality teaching. I not only feel well equipped with a range of therapeutic tools but also confident that is just the start of a very rewarding professional path. Thank you for all your support and friendly engagement throughout!
I am already working with clients with a personality disorder and so envisage being able to use the learning with them to process childhood trauma. Secondly, I hope to be able to take on more work with people who have experienced PTSD such as domestic and sexual abuse in adulthood.
I have huge confidence in Sarah’s experience and teaching approach and particularly appreciate the gift she has for explaining, what can be, complex psychological theories, bringing them to life and instilling confidence in our existing understanding. She is hugely encouraging whilst holding high standards – which are delivered with clarity and empathy. I deeply value her support as my mentor/assessor.
I know that this course has already had a huge impact on my client work. It has given me confidence to really use psychoeducation in a meaningful way with clients, to know my interventions are backed up with neuroscience and are tangible and practical. I dislike "wafty" in therapy and there was no waft in this course!
I like the professional and teaching philosophy of the course. I can clearly see that these philosophies are mirrored in the tutors' personal values and philosophies. I also like the way that the courses are set out with access to comprehensive written materials.

The course was fabulous - both Sarah and Elliot were amazing, and I have learned loads whilst meeting some lovely people.
I loved how the neuroscience was really entered into at the start, so we can keep this in mind and start to develop a language for it to describe what happens to the brain on trauma with clients. The models (Family Systems, WOT etc) as well as the grounding/phase one tools were excellent and so easily applicable to client work.
I found the neurobiology/neuropsychology aspect of the training the most helpful. Having a way to explain the physiological response to trauma and traumatic stress that made sense - and in a way that was not overly complicated - was important. It has also made a difference in the nature of the conversations I have in therapy and the different trainings I write and deliver.
Thank you for a very informative and well run course, I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt I learned a lot.
Sarah is gifted in framing and reframing again, concepts, methodology and frameworks until the penny drops. She is dedicated to supporting the students in really understanding the material. Sarah also brings a lot of joy and fun into the classroom, whilst modelling professionalism. Her commitment to high ethical standards in the field of trauma treatment (and therapy as a whole) is transferred to the students through, not only her knowledge, but her constant example.
I think the resources such as WOT, plus PTSD information have been the most useful practically. I was able to start using them with clients straight away and the concepts and ideas really resonate with them and enhance the work we do together.
This course has given me the confidence to work with clients who has experienced trauma in its many forms in a safe and empowering way for clients. I was able to start use the psychoeducational tools we were taught straight away and I could see that having knowledge about what happens to the brain and the body as a result of trauma really helps clients make sense of what they were experiencing. The EFT element of the course gave me the skills to practically help clients unblock trapped emotion and as a result of the course I am now going on to qualify to be a EFT practitioner.
The course facilitators provided a safe, open space for learning, reflection and discussion and also shared their wisdom and expertise, leading to a training experience which was engaging and thought provoking. I feel this training gives you everything you will need for working in a trauma informed way.
It has been an incredible memorable learning experience for me, and truly I have that box of materials to ponder over and a wealth of information to gather and learn more from over time.
Again thank you so much for being an amazing tutor. I will be recommending this course to others. For me as a mum first I found the zoom such a relief for me as I was able to be there for my children as well as expanding my personal and professional development. Thank you for making it accessible for those of us who would have struggled to travel
Just want to say another massive thank you to Sarah and Elliot for the course. I have thoroughly enjoyed each session and left feeling fulfilled. It has just been fantastic and so enjoyable."
I would also like to thank you from your initial response linking so quickly with my funding officer for the Diploma from the onset. This is not always the way with other courses and this has been more than ‘a course’. I am still quite emotional (with joy) of the experience over the last few months. It has been an amazing journey.
Thank you for this training and time together. It was truly inspirational space. I look forward to the new trainings The Grove is planning.”
I hope others are able to find the course as useful and life changing as I have too. Thank you so much for all your wonderful training.
I am looking forward to another great learning experience at The Grove.
I am so grateful for the trauma course I did at The Grove. It has transformed my work and I am loving working with the prisoners. My group work has been so helpful to so many as well.
I just want to thank you both so much for teaching me. I found both of your styles of teaching so relatable and reassuring for someone like me who usually questions my abilities. You both helped me to conquer that big bad monster who said trauma therapy training was beyond my reach. You have both increased my confidence in my abilities to practice as a good enough therapist and I will take that learning through the rest of my life in the hope I can help as many people as I can on my journey of life
Couple / Relationship Therapy
Just wanted to drop you a line to say how much I am enjoying this course!
Coincidentally, I took on my first couple during the course and found what I had learnt was invaluable, particularly around contracting and the initial session.
Excellent. Enjoyable and I feel more confident as a result to start working with couples and taking what I have learnt in to my 1-1 work with clients who bring their relationship and struggles.
It was a pleasure to meet you Cabby. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience in such an accessible and real way.
I really enjoyed the course and gained a lot from it. The outlook and stance taken by Cabby was refreshing and challenged me in lots of ways – great!
Very good notes and material to accompany the theory presented. Cabby’s explanation of theory in relation to the work is second to none. It’s ‘straight up’ and she explains it with ease in a very knowledgeable but approachable way.
Many thanks again for a thought-provoking, interesting and beautifully taught and held course, I thoroughly enjoyed it
I’ve learned new things and had my basic assumptions challenged. It’s been a good experience.
Such a brilliant course - thank you!!
I learnt so much and was always given the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification without ever feeling I was being rushed.
Cabby has been the most enlightening and generous of teachers, such a wonderful experience.
Just wanted to drop you a line to say how much I am enjoying this course!
Psychosexual Course
The course has really developed my confidence to work with psychosexual issues.
Notes were good, arrived in advance, really good resources and links to things mentioned in the training have been handed on.
It was helpful to experience again how powerful it was being a client again. Generally I find skills practice less helpful than case discussion. Polly and Cabby did adapt skills practice to use specific cases/guidance following earlier feedback from the group which was good.
I have started to use this work with clients already, and in discussions with my partner.
Polly and Cabby are fab. The group was great and I and my other study group buddies have really bonded.
I really enjoyed the experiential nature of the course. It made me reflect on my own values around sex and intimacy.
The expertise of the facilitators was so very valuable and I think this might have been behind the reluctance/resistance to breakout groups! They were reluctant to be seen as the experts with all the knowledge but they listened and were agile in the way they tailored the course to meet the needs of the group. I really appreciated this. The range of topics covered was good and I will definitely be doing more research in the areas of sensate focus, working with sexual diversity and trauma-informed psychosexual practice.
Such a good bond with my small group and the whole group felt like it was working really well together. Cabby and Polly did a great job. They were open, reflective and brought their own experience and practice really collaboratively.
Fantastic, rich and expansive. Both Cabby and Polly blended a mix of teaching with group exploration and facilitated discussions about our own practice and use of the theory in our practice.
I have enjoyed interacting with the group and tutors; the discussions with the wider group I have found helpful. I feel the learning experience was abundant this way.
Organisational Practice & Mental Health at Work
It is a course needed in the market as many therapists want to transition (to organisational work) but they want to use their existing skills. The precision with which the course was run was containing and very well technically managed. The guest speakers were truly inspirational and the interview style on day 2 really pulled the learning together. The course worked very well on Zoom and was impeccable in its execution.
It was very well organised and delivered and I was pleased that a zoom course could be so interactive and enjoyable: practising some of the skills being taught such as presenting, giving feedback, summarising and coaching around an issue.
I found it very professional and it flowed really well. I felt out of my comfort zone at times which did me the world of good. It brought a lot up for me about working in business and some of my resentments and the resistance I have at times to management.
I am planning to devote some of my time as a psychotherapist and coach to working with groups and corporates so this is a welcome push in that direction. It was also priceless to benefit from Phil's experience and professionalism.
Feeling more confident to put together a mental health training into workplace. Very professional course and good balance of theory and practice and learning styles.
I found the speaker presentation on a leadership initiative of a comprehensive program to be inspirational and demonstrated to me the importance of being able to get engagement and commitment from the leaders in the business to truly make this part of the company's culture.
It was really good for me to be in a group of people thinking about mental health In organisations. I really enjoyed the opportunity to break out and practice skills and have found myself using ‘clean language’ often and even in a couple of sessions using coaching! I would love the opportunity to be part of a supervision group and also to be part of the practice coaching group.
I have gained so much insight and additional skills and feel confident to incorporate them into my current practice and feel excited about the possibility of working with organisations in the future.
