All intakes starting in 2022 will be held on Zoom. Any intake which starts on Zoom will be delivered on Zoom to its completion.

From 2023 onwards, we will be offering a choice of attendance in person or on Zoom. Please check the webpage for each specific intake of the course you wish to take. It will be clear on our website and during the enrolment process whether each particular intake is to be held in person at a training venue, or on Zoom.

For a course where there are 2 intakes each year, the Spring intake will be held in person, whereas the Autumn intake will be held on Zoom. This is applicable in 2023 for these courses: supervision, trauma, couple/relationship, psychosexual.

We want every applicant to be confident of the delivery format for the course, at the point when they enrol.

This stance supports our profession in offering quality CPD hours in an accessible way for participants drawn principally from around the UK and sometimes other countries.

We acknowledge that there are great benefits to teaching in person: relational and embodied experiential learning; social contact and networking; ease of personal interaction. However, many of our students are benefiting from the flexibility provided by Zoom: such as geographical accessibility for those living some distance from London; being at home for childcare or pets; no expense incurred on travel or subsistence or accommodation; flexibility with any health difficulties or disability or family circumstances. So we are adopting this flexible and accessible approach using Zoom, in order to be adaptable in accommodating everyone who wishes to take part.

In the meantime, professional bodies such as BACP and UKCP are recognising that many CPD courses continue to run as online learning. The Grove's understanding is that CPD certificates for online learning in 2021 and 2022 will be recognised by membership organisations, as part of the ongoing Covid response. Initially in 2020, professional bodies including BACP stated that training institutes should maintain continuity so that students could continue with their qualifications and continue to collect CPD hours. Whilst there is an expectation that training in person will resume in future, it is also acknowledged that many therapists continue to see clients online out of concern for everyone's safety and reduction of infectivity. Therefore it makes sense that CPD would also continue online during this period of time.

Feedback from our courses on Zoom

Meanwhile, here are some comments made by students who enrolled on our Zoom courses, regarding their reaction to the training being held with real-time tutor interaction on Zoom. The video conferencing allows everyone to see and hear each other on the training event. There are Zoom breakout rooms which enable participants to work in smaller groups or pairs for skills practice and experiential exercises. The presenter can share the viewing screen to display documents or presentations, as if on a projector screen. We are using the technology as best we can to convey the learning material in an engaging way.

I had my 1st weekend of couples training this weekend with Cabby, and really, it helped deflect so much from the constant anxiety of the virus!! I love you have also offered Zoom . . . .  this is a wonderful idea! Thanks Sarah, can’t wait for the next weekend!”

2020 1-day Childhood Sexual Abuse workshop

“I don’t think the Zoom delivery took anything away from the course and it was welcome, from my point of view, to have a bit of quiet time during the breaks.”

“I thought the balance between presentation and group participation was perfect. And I think your style of delivery on Zoom – calm, measured and very articulate were excellent for a CPD training but also as a model for working with clients.”

“I’d also happily book on to future Zoom training you are offering, your presenting style, pace & passion for your topic had me totally engaged.”
